What a week!

I only walked once this week, due to unbearable humidity & screwy schedules. But I kept on track with my eating and flying. I actually got alot accomplished this week by stealing an idea from phoenix and making lists. This week, I

  • Cleared my desk off
  • Cleared my kitchen table
  • Cleared my kitchen counter
  • listed my daughter's clothes on ebay that she's grown out of
  • Kept all my rooms at bay and straightened, including vacuuming
  • (most) of the laundry (ran out of quarters LOl)
  • Breakfast, lunch & dinner
  • Cleaned out our van, which is a horrible mess most of the time.

So I feel very good about flying this week. I'm down to 264, meaning 16 lbs. lost in 1 month. I know it won't go that fast all the time, but I am happy about it. And 11 inches is nothing to shake a stick at (but maybe shake a shake at) LOL

I'll be posting some more recipes later tonight or tomorrow, hopefully. I am really enjoying the Saving Dinner book!

Hope everyone enjoys the new layout for Trying To Soar. We're trying a variety of things, so who knows what the final product will be. :)

Millie, we need an idea of what you look like so we can get you a fly doll too.

Trying to Soar

well my house has gone to heck. i have decided to do the south beach diet. yep, i have to be the different one ;) i have to go tomorrow and get some food and a few other things.

my blood pressure is going up and my feet are swelling so it's time for me to get off my butt and get busy with this diet (or lifestyle change).

i am going to try and get my livingroom and kitchen cleaned up tonight. i am sick of looking at this mess.

we got my son an exercise ball. i got on that thing last night and just bounced. when i got up i had rubber legs lol. that thing'll kill ya!! so i guess i need to do it again tonight hehe.

i will post my measurments and weight (eeek) probably tomorrow or the next day. i really don't wanna know.

thanks again for the warm welcome :) and i think ya'll have done awsome!! i just hope that i can do half as good. keep up the good work.

take care,

Updating, sorta (Recipe)

Well, things are back to being too damned hot to do much of anything but maintain. Luckily, after last week's pretty thorough cleaning, that's all I've really needed to do. The floors need some attention, but they can wait another day or two. Ugh. I did keep busy today, trying to get everything done before it got too hot.

I've lost another pound, but am still pissed off that that's all it was after all that damned exercise. When I say we walk, we WALK, not just stroll. It's WORK. grrr.

Anyways, here's one of the recipes I made last week that came out so good. I hope you try it & enjoy it as much as we did.

  • 2 T olive oil
  • 2 T balsamic vinegar
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/2 t pepper
  • 1/2 t dried crumbled rosemary (I used about 8-10 fresh rosemary needles)
  • Chicken (I used 2-1/2 lbs of thighs)
  • 1 c broccoli
  • 1 sm bell pepper (I used 2)

Heat oven to 400°. In a bowl, combine oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and rosemary. Add chicken and vegetables. Toss until coated.

Arrange chicken, skin side up, in jelly roll pan. Place veggies in single layer, around chicken. Roast 40 minutes, till chicken is cooked. 1/2 way through, flip veggies.

I will post the nutritional info a bit later, when I have the book in front of me again.

Doing well

Just wanted to update with everyone and let you all know how I'm doing. I may not be posting as frequently as I am right now due to some new circumstances in my life.

I will weigh myself today when I go to Grandma's (Nikki knows better then to own a scale)

I doubt I have lost anything though because eating has been sporadic at best. I have felt lucky to eat once a day. Drinking has all but dropped out of the bottom so to speak. I was doing really well earlier in the week but with all the new stress in my life I have let it go by the wayside.

I realize that most of you already know this but I am back at work. Just so that everyone knows, I work from 330pm to 1200pm Central Time. Normally I would work Tuesday thru Saturday. This coming weekend however is a holiday weekend and I agreed to work both Sunday and Monday for a co-worker who has been really nice to me. This means that starting on Tuesday I will have a 12 day stretch with no days off. Since I work so late I usually do not get up until late morning.

Yesterday I spent the entire day flying. I think at one point I was so busy getting things done that I forgot to take about four of my breaks. Here is what I did yesterday.

  1. Dishes
  2. Swept the kitchen
  3. Finished putting away all unpacked boxes in there
  4. Vacuumed the downstairs
  5. Cleaned out the coat closet
  6. Cleaned off both my desks (hot spot big time)
  7. Dusted the living room
  8. Cleaned off the entertainment center and the bookshelf
  9. Unpacked all the bathroom stuff
  10. Cleaned both bathrooms
  11. Folded and put away all my towels, sheets, and blankets
  12. Emptied all the garbage cans
  13. Made the bed in my daughter’s room for our upcoming guest
  14. Cleaned the coffee table off and then cleaned it with windex (yes it’s glass)

Now, luckily for me my darling husband Chris was even bitten by the flylady in the last couple of days. He pulled everything out of my daughter’s room and set the furniture up the way we wanted it so that I could get in there and get the bed made. He helped me carry the garbage out and make dinner. He hung all my pictures up in the living room and in the kitchen. He also hung up the curtains in our room that we just bought. First time since we’ve been together that we’ve bothered to put them up on any of our windows. Normally we just let the blinds do the work.

Now all I need to do is get my boys’ room unpacked and our room. Then I can begin maintaining things. He is very happy at the way that our home is shaping up and I have to admit that coming downstairs to a clean area was really nice. I was proud of myself and I woke up feeling very good about all that I had accomplished.

It has really helped to have my cohorts to nudge me along when I start to lack. Even having them online is a help because it reminds me that there are things I need to be doing.

As my darling husband pointed out to me last night, we have done more work here in the last two weeks to make this a home then we did in our other place in the three years we lived there. It is very freeing. Now I just need to get back to eating healthier.
